Saturday mornings

(For English scroll down)

Uwielbiam sobotnie poranki. Ten moment w tygodniu kiedy czas płynie wolniej, kiedy wszystko możemy, a nic nie musimy i mamy przed sobą cały weekend. Dawniej spaliśmy do południa odsypiając tydzień pracy.

To kolejny moment wielkiej radości.

Spróbuj ,a zobaczysz jakie to łatwe.

I love Saturdays’ mornings. This special moment in the week when time passes slower then usual, when you can do all the things you want and there is nothing you have to do. When there is the whole weekend ahead of us. Until recently, we slept till midday – sleeping off the work week. I can not imagine how I could be wasting time like that. Now our son wakes us up, usually about 6 o’clock although not that long ago he was getting up at 5 in the morning. He is always in good mood in the morning, merrily chatting in his bed, playing with his toys. I know I have some few more minutes before I head to his room. A moment later as I’m walking in as explosion of joy is happening, Peter is showing the joy with all his little body, cooing, climbing up the railing of his bed and of course he smiles from ear to ear. I take him quickly in my arms and we cuddle. Peter can now intentionally hug and cuddle- it is the best feeling in the whole world. After a while, with a dry diaper and still in pajamas in we are already in the kitchen. I can smell the coffee in the air as I’m making the first breakfast for the two of us. First, because the weekend we eat two breakfasts, first in the morning and the second one few hour latter together with daddy. My husband is sleeping till around 9 o’clock and wakes up when Peter is waking from his first nap. Back to the two of us. Peter helps me in the kitchen,  he pull the dishes out of the cabinets, grabs my leg and pull himself up and happily looks up. He knows, after all, I’m getting his banana porridge ready. My baby boy loves to eat, he has it probably in the genes. He waits for each meal impatiently and once I seat him in the feeding chair he is so happy. Once he sees the soon his mouth opens up widely. For the first breakfast Peter is getting always the same – porridge with banana that I cook fresh every morning. While we are enjoying breakfast and our company we are „talking” about our plans for the weekend. Peter is such a babbler. He loves to talk and it’s just enough to give him some kind of sounds for answer and he keeps going and going. Sometimes we have really long discussions and do not know how Dad can sleep in that noise. After the breakfast we head to the bathroom. Peter accompanied me there since I’m afraid to leave him alone- I give him some creams to play with but he prefers to climb on the bathroom scale weight and plays with the lights that are appearing on the screen. It’s our daily ritual already. I’m surprised that the weight is still working, although sometimes I doubt it when the numbers are to high – I’m telling myself then that he misaligned it.

The morning nap last just a moment. Literally a moment, because it rarely takes longer than 30-40 minutes. When Peter wakes up, we are going together to wake the daddy. This is another moment of joy explosion. My two favorite guys have already established a very strong bond. They spend every free moment together, and no one comes up with such cool plays and the daddy. I leave them together, fooling around in bed and I’m going to the store for something for breakfast or into the kitchen to make pancakes or crepes – it depends on what we want. A moment later we enjoy the breakfast together. Recently, I struggle with TV, which was on even though no one was really watching it. Now we try to make it a moment just for us. Peter can eat almost everything that we do. He is getting his portion in sizes easy to grab in his small hands and eat by himself. He is not a greedy baby and he shears his food with our dog, his clothes, chair, floor etc. After the breakfast there is time for a stroll, it takes us usually half an hour because we take Daisy with us.
Each weekend is different but our Saturdays’ mornings look the same each week. I love family rituals and I’m glad to have another one that reappears in our lives. I’m going back to work in January so there will be much less time for family in the future. That’s why I started to learn how to plan and manage my time few months ago. I do a meal plan for the whole week for our family and then based on it I’m making the shopping list and later on the shopping. Try it and see how much time you save not thinking „what to cook” each day and saving all the trips to the local store for just few things. I cook usually for 2 days, I’m also preparing meals for Peter in advance. I hope that this will help me to squeeze a work life with family time and house keeping in this 24 hours that we all have.

Do you think this is possible?
